Spirit Airlines Crowdfunding Campaign 2026 Raised $337M

On May 2 2026, Spirit Airlines officially announced the winding down of its operations. The airline cancelled all the flights and ended its customer service support. Hunter Peterson (voice actor/content creator) shares a genius idea on a social media video to buy Spirit Airlines. He made a website called “letsbuyspiritair.com” on which he has raised $337 Million in a crowdfunding campaign for Spirit Airlines.

The Origins of the Viral Campaign

Hunter Peterson made a video in which he describes that there are 250 million people over the age of 18. If just 20% of them contribute $30-$45, they would be able to buy the airline.

After that, he made a website and called it “Spirit 2.0″ with a caption “get in loser we’re gonna buy an airline”. The campaign went viral, and he has raised $337 million in pledges with an average of $907.

The idea of a campaign looks similar to the Green Bay Packers, which is a publicly owned sports franchise in the United States. In the Green Bay Packers, more than 538,000 stockholders collectively own 5.2 million shares.

How the “Buy Spirit” Pledge Works

According to the campaign, you will pledge from $45. You will get one vote, and the profit will be shared depending on the amount you have pledged for the Spirit 2.0.

Mutiny with Spirit 2.0

Hunter Peterson has gone to mutiny for the support regarding Spirit 2.0. Mutiny is a membership platform where people can earn ownership stakes in brands. The Mutiny will handle the legal structure, future ownership model, and cooperative mechanisms for Spirit 2.0.
