Qatar Aviation Services, part of the Qatar Airways Group, is hiring a Ground Handling Agent Baggage II to join its baggage handling operations at Hamad International Airport in Doha. This is a fixed-term contract role covering all aspects of baggage loading, unloading, and tracking across arrival and departure flights.

About the Role

The Ground Handling Agent Baggage II follows instructions from team leaders and supervisors regarding arrival and departure flights, adhering to standard operating and safety procedures at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve targeted baggage key performance indicators along with the team.
  • Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn at all times during the shift.
  • Check shift supervisor allocations and report to the concerned Baggage Team Leader at the respective area.
  • Assist the Baggage Team Leader / Supervisor in carrying out foreign object debris (FOD) checks before loading and after unloading units.
  • Assist in organizing equipment and units for loading, and checking inbound/outbound units for serviceability, alerting supervisors of any discrepancies.
  • Use knowledge of the Bag Scan system to determine the number of loaded and missing bags, updating the Baggage Team Leader / Supervisor accordingly.
  • Assist in leading the team of loaders to unload and/or load units in compliance with SOP, and assign baggage units for departure flights after checking serviceability.
  • Use handheld scanners while loading bags into baggage units, following proper baggage segregation processes.
  • Ensure business/first class and special load baggage are loaded per airline requirements; report discrepancies immediately.
  • Track all terminating baggage at the Reclaim belt and report discrepancies.
  • Ensure crew baggage is received on time at the Crew Terminal from check-in counters, loaded and dispatched to the correct bay per schedule.
  • Report any safety/security issues immediately to the shift supervisor.
  • Ensure oversize baggage is 100% tracked through baggage scanners and delivered on time to the correct makeup carousels.
  • Follow instructions from the Baggage Team Leader / Supervisor during system outages or disruptions.
  • Perform other department duties as directed by the Head of Department.

Qualifications

  • Minimum basic literacy, numeracy, and English communication skills with 2 years of job-related experience, or High School qualification (e.g. O-Level, Year 10, minimum compulsory education) with no prior job-related experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret LDM/CPM messages.
  • Practical knowledge of using handheld scanners and familiarity with the Bag Scan console.
  • Familiarity with ramp safety and dangerous goods handling.
  • Ability to identify unserviceable containers from serviceable ones.
  • Familiarity with flights operating through Doha by flight numbers and three-letter codes.

Preferred:

  • At least 1 year of experience across all areas of airport operations.
  • At least 6 months of experience working in baggage areas.
  • Familiarity with QR GOM and company SOPs related to baggage handling.
